Pot coffee???No thanx.....

After our second sessionals, I and my friend Nimi(yea, the same person who was with me during the crow shitting incident {refer earlier blog}) decided to have lunch outside…. We had a delectabe plate of chopsuey and chicken hawaiin salad with coleslaw….

And finally for the grand finale we ordered pot coffee….Not that we knew what it was,but it sure sounded aristocratic enough to end a well ordered luncheon…. As both of us waited for a steaming cup of coffee, the bearer placed 3 small silver jugs and 2 ëmpty” cups in front of us….
That was an unexpected shock for us whose normal Nescafe coffee doesn’t taste like it ought to when we make it….And how in the world should one make “pot coffee”???

Nimi couldn’t help exclaiming loudly “I thought we asked them to make the coffee and bring not put the ingredients in front of us”….(which the bearer heard and responded with a slight chuckle!)

We decided to try our hand at the pot coffee too…I assured her it was simple enough and promptly divided the the rich ebony colored luscious fluid into the two cups….Then we added the milk and sugar…stirred and tasted..YUCK!

Nimi tried to make things seem brighter by telling hers was “okay”..(yeah,I tasted that,,,it was worse than mine!!!)….I figured out that mabbe lack of sugar was the reason for the bitter taste…we dumped the white powder only to end up with a worse tasting liquid…Nimi thought it must be the milk that’s missing…Since the cups were filled to the brim we had to painfully swallow half the bitter contents to pour in more milk…Well.that didn’t help either! So finally all the 3 jars were empty and a bitter-sweet ‘éspresso’’stared laughing at us from the two cups….

The news must have spread among the chefs that there were two girls fiddling over a cup of coffe…’çoz a dozen of them kept passing by our table and giving us sympathetic looks which we responded gracefully with a smile and drank under the pretension that it was the most exquisitely made coffee on earth….We couldn’t drink more than one fourth the cup and ran out after stealthily wrapping up those coloured sugar coated jeera sweets (which they give with the bill)in a tissue paper…we had to munch on them for an hour before the exotic taste of our “pot coffee” left our tongue…Atleast now we know one way how not to make a cup of pot coffee…..

How to make good pot coffee (from personal experience)

Ø The dark viscous liquid provided is “not” for two cups and should be put in a minimal qty into the cup.
Ø Add milk and sugar…Keep stirring and tasting at intervals and add the appropriate ingredients…Don’t overdo the whole thing…
Ø Lastly, even if it turns out bad, drink it with an air of grace as if nothing has gone wrong…
Ø And don’t foget to be thankful to this great soul who taught you how to brew up a good cup of pot coffee(after ordering it from a restaurant of course!)

Seminars.....

Seminars….That was our new mode of internal assessment….Each one had to present something in front of the whole class..The girls saw it as one golden opportunity to repay all the pranks I play on them ….They knew my weakness for laughing nonstop at every stupid thing on the planet and taking a long time to recover from it (read as NEVER recovering from it)

On Friday there was a ‘’big’’ discussion just outside my room on their plans…Seriously I never realized that they loved me soooooo much until that day….Gayo voluntarily took up the responsibility as the master planner of the game..I still suspect that they even took references from “101 ways to spoil a seminar”….So finally there were to be posters reading “true friends”[ that’s a reealy long story…mabbe ill post a blog on it some day]…..Another one showing the picture of a cake [im crazy to the core abt cakes]…The gals were kind enough to inform me beforehand that they are gonna buy pastry 4rm the nearby bakery and eat it when Im giving the seminar…yeah, all 9 of them!!There were to be flashcards showing the letters ‘’M’’ ‘’O’’ and “H”[that’s related 2 a certain movie craze of mine which id rather not pen down…;)…] which were supposed t be flashed like how the cheerleaders do….I even saw them practising with the crap and Gayo was synchronizing the timings…..Oh My!!!There was even a proposal to wave striped shirts knowing my obsession for them…the girls managed to have anything and everything that would make me laugh on stage….The elaborate planning completely freaked me out….

There were demo sessions too….(awwww,….how sweet of them!!!)….Not with all the posters, but jes the MOH one….Well,I never went farther than the ‘’gud morning” part(which itself was wrong because it was supposed to be a good afternoon….they took 2 demos the previous day and 3 on the seminar day….all were perfect (4 them)…I didn’t even utter the topic’s name…just looked blank…smiled…laughed…and then laughed again….

Well, the most awaited day finally came….No pleading or coaxing would make the girls turn back from their plans…. I was kinda scared to realize that im gonna screw up my seminar in front of 82persons and thus be a laughing stock for everyone…

Sadly,a test sprang up,so all the gals had to bunk the class 4 their usual last minute study….And worst of all it was a sir who came to monitoir the seminar not the usual maám behind whom we could do anything to freak out the person giving the seminar..And the sir went on to the extent of asking questions between the seminars(as though anyone ever listened!)

So finally, nothing happened,…The whole two hours ppl came up on stage..gave their seminar and sat down quietly…’’Boring’’is an understatement…..I later admitted to Gayo that I wished something actually went wrong….Sometimes life gets more colourful when things go wrong, doesn’t it?

Another set of hols

Another set of hols come and my blog gets ready to receive its set of three posts…Yes,finally college has closed and as usual I have pledged to be loyal and devoted to my blog and update it regularly and not shirk from my duties like how it happens after two posts in every vacation…As usual joblessness and my love for writing stuff contributes to the new(rather “dusted up óld’’)resolution….This time ive decided to write on anything that comes to my mind çoz life was pretty boring in the last sem and im devoid of anything interesting to write….;)…There are a few ppl out der who come and talk abt my posts to me.. I really cant understand why people come and compliment you on your posts rather than leave their comments on the blog….(guys, pls do that from now on….Atleast it gives others who visit this blog a feeling that though the least updated, its not the least read blog on the planet..;)…so im gnna bog away this sem…Lets see how long this updating business lasts….
